This 2024 Challenge pushes members to think out-of-the-box. Participants are encouraged to use fabrics that were originally from another source, and turn them into a completely different object. This challenge is NOT limited to only making quilts. Final project can be ANY fabric object and must include a quilted element.
Source Material
- Clothing, bedding, towels, drapery, tablecloths, or a finished quilt are all acceptable fabric sources.
- An unfinished quilt top is NOT allowed as source fabric.
- NO off-the-bolt fabric or precuts are allowed.
- Notions, batting, interfacing, thread, zippers and buttons CAN be purchased new or repurposed as well.
Requirements
- Photograph your source material for final presentation. Show how you started.
- Turn a previously made fabric item into a different fabric item. (A pair of pants into a toaster cozy. A quilt into a tote bag. A blanket into a decorative bowl. Neckties into cafe curtains. Old linen napkins into a lap quilt. A duvet cover into an apron.)
- All visible fabric must have come from a previously made item.
- A quilted element is required in the final object.
